What is Repetitious Doodling?
Repetitious Doodling is a form of mindfulness that betters a persons metal health by simply drawing one thing multiple times until it fills a page or multiple pages. The ability to draw is not a factor. It is all about the process. The goal is that the doodling will take your mind off of whatever may be causing stress or anxiety. Escape into the doodles and let the outside world disappear.
The story behind “Doodling Through Difficult Times”
John Bellsmith is a published cartoonist and author of the "Lunchbox Doodles" book series, as well as the developer of "Doodling Through Difficult Times (The Mental Health Benefits of Repetitious Doodling)". As a lifelong doodler he believes that doodling played a major role in helping him through a very difficult childhood, which included ten years of incessant bullying.
As an adult, the simplicity of "repetitious doodling" helped him greatly during his wife battled cancer and is part of his regular routine for dealing with stress and anxiety. In his "Doodling Through Difficult Times" talks, John shares the mental health benefits of repetitious doodling and provides guidance on how it can be incorporated into the lives of others, regardless of artistic ability.
John is available for classroom visits as well as corporate speaking engagements and workshops. A "Doodling Through Difficult Times" sketch book and pencil is provided for each person in attendance.
